Mental Health is important at every stage of our lives. It helps with out overall wellbeing and affects our lives in many ways.
Mental health is a topic that often gets stigmatised in our society. It becomes up to us to advocate for our needs and educate others about the issues. People are starting to understand and get educated more on mental health now more than ever, we understand that mental illness matters just as much as any disease, which has helped us to offer and receive the help that is needed.
Young people are now very open about mental health and are more likely to consider different ways of helping themselves to improve and grow. Millennials and Gen X can sometimes struggle to feel understood in the same ways, and might feel rather closed when talking about their mental health as it is personal. Open communication among families, between parents and kids, and among generations will mean less adults with emotional baggage. Keeping mental health in the shadows helps no one.
Many parents with mental health problems can care for their children in a safe and loving way. But sometimes there are difficult times that require extra support from family, friends, or healthcare professionals to get through. There is no shame in needing extra help as a parent, whatever the reasons for it. Here at Zakon, we want to spread awareness for the Parent Mental Health Day and offer you a way of educating yourself and the people around you. Our CPD Mental Health Awareness course is available for £29. It can be hard to seek help as a parent. Remember, all parents have hard times and it's okay to need help.
