Zakon Training is currently responsible for the training of the Gangmasters Licensing and Abuse Authority (GLAA) investigators and other staff in the interviewing of vulnerable victims and witnesses of human trafficking and modern slavery. We also train GLAA staff in how to properly manage their criminal disclosure responsibilities during investigations.
Modern slavery is something that is all around us, and is a responsibility for everyone in our society. However, the emergency services are in the unique position of being likely to come across victims and offenders on a day to day basis.
Whilst it is important that anyone with any concerns reports them to the police or the GLAA, this video does a great job of highlighting the responsibilities of emergency service workers of all kinds in identifying and responding to cases of human trafficking and modern slavery.
As the video says, modern slavery covers all corners of the UK, and is often hidden from view. What it often takes is a degree of inquisitiveness and a willingness to question and challenge as appropriate.
if you work with or for any of the emergency services, then we strongly suggest you take a few minutes out of your day to watch this video, and to take on board the messages it sends.
