Nestle reports the use of forced labour in its seafood supply chain in Thailand.
According to an article in the Guardian newspaper, Nestle conducted its own internal investigation which uncovered some disturbing details of how certain labourers are being treated. This includes a suggestion of workers being paid at poverty levels, with some drowning whilst working with their bodies simply thrown into the sea. Most worryingly, and perhaps not so surprisingly, the Guardian reports that the "study found that virtually all US and European companies buying seafood from Thailand are exposed to the same risks of abuse in their supply chains".
