Criminology: Crime Scene to Courtroom – This fantastic day sees students examine a crime scene, investigate a murder based on a real-life case and end up in the fight of their life presenting the evidence in a mock courtroom trial, all from within the comfort of their own school!
This highly unique and interactive day brings fun, challenge and excitement into secondary schools and is a wonderful compliment to many aspects of the curriculum such as law, science, WJEC Criminology and citizenship studies to name but a few.
The day starts off with a 999 call directly from the scene of an alleged murder and students then have to commit to a series of decisions that take them through an intensive investigation. Our experienced team of investigators, all with real life experience of murder investigation and complimentary legal, criminology or investigative degrees, help the students apply theory into practice through a range of practical exercises to steer them towards an inevitable mock crown court trial.
We explain the law, judicial system and courtroom process before the students run their own trial during which their own murder investigation is presented. Each and every student gets a role and this hotly contested debate sees them have to defend their investigation, decisions and thought processes before the jury considers the evidence and decides whether the suspect is guilty or not!
During the day, students are introduced to a whole host of potential careers within police, investigation agencies, forensic science, law and the wider criminal justice system. The day inspires students, gives them focus, confidence and our role models really provide inspiration from real world experience of criminal investigations.
Suitable for all secondary school ages, we cover England and Wales and can cater for around 30 students per full day workshop with prices from £695. We travel to your school or college and the and we run the day from any reasonably sized classroom or hall and we adapt our lesson plans to fit in with your usual school timings.
