Led by experienced former police detectives, this workshop is based on our police interview courses and students spend the full day learning the art of investigative interviewing. They even get to interview suspects and witnesses with real crime scenarios.
By popular demand, following our Careers in Crime Workshop http://tiny.cc/careersincrimeworkshop, our Forensic Psychology workshop sees students spend the day learning the art and craft of police interviewing, exactly as we teach detectives in the police service.
Students gain an insight into forensic interviewing with transferable skills such as questioning and listening, through to more advanced techniques utilised in serious crime interviews. Our team share their experiences of real cases that they have worked upon to both inspire and motivate students.
The workshop explores interview structure as well as ‘Cognitive Interview’ psychology methods, during which we give an input on memory, perception and how things such as bias and contamination affect this. Students get to critique a visual recording of an interview with a victim of a serious crime, carried out by one of the most experienced police interviewers in the country. Students then go onto perform their own interviews with both suspects and witnesses applying all their newfound knowledge to cases based on real crimes.
In addition to being directly relevant to education and careers in psychology, sociology, law, criminology, forensic science, etc. this workshop develops a multitude of transferable skills that can assist in university/job interviews, gathering information of any sort, buying/selling, resolving conflict and much more. This workshop can also a great addition to any personal statements, CVs or similar.
