Simon has been deployed in a multitude of roles and in particular has highly developed skills as a police interviewer. He is an interview advisor, which is currently the highest possible level of interview qualification available within the UK police service. He has numerous professional qualifications including PIP level 2.
Simon is an experienced teacher with a Certificate of Teaching in the Life-long Learning Sector (CTLLS) and is also a qualified assessor. He holds a first class honours degree in Applied Investigation and won an academic award for his research into the memory of eyewitnesses and the cognitive interview.
Simon is also a Director at a School Academy, voluntarily offering his time and experience as a School Governor and School Safeguarding lead. In his spare time he is one of relatively few fully qualified disability ski instructors, again volunteering his time to help people with a range of disabilities access snowsports. He loves cycling, the great outdoors and spending time with his wife and young daughter.

Phil has experience of commanding policing incidents and managing resources. He has also worked overseas in advisory roles, such as advising the Croatian Police on community policing issues and working with the Iraqi Security Services and assisting and advising them on training strategy. Since retiring from the police, Phil has worked as a specialist crime trainer, delivering such subjects as interviewing skills, responding to complainants in serious sexual offences and the training of newly appointed detectives.
Phil has a Certificate in Education (Cert Ed) and includes a Master of Laws and a Post Graduate Certificate in Human Rights and Development Management amongst his academic qualifications. His ethos is that every day is a learning opportunity and he really enjoys getting stuck in to academia, especially where it is a subject matter that can help enhance his subject knowledge in the classroom.
Phil has recently been accepted in a volunteer role with the police where he hopes to continue to share the knowledge and skills he has learned over the years with others. He is married to a Russian lady and they have a young daughter together who keeps testing her dad on his Russian skills! With two sons from a previous marriage and a 21 year gap between children, Phil believes in living life to the full and that you are only as old as you feel.
